Heta Välimäki - young and responsible

Heta Välimäki is the chairwoman of the Social Democratic youth organization in Finland. She is a candidate in Helsinki in the municipal elections in October.

Heta (27) got involved in politics during Tarja Halonen’s first campaign in the presidential elections in 2000. She volunteered at the campaign office.

Before becoming a full-time chairwoman of the Social Democratic Youth Heta worked in the Parliament as an MP’s assistant. Earlier she worked as a school assistant and in a home for the elderly.

She has also been a board member in the Social Democratic Youth and the chairwoman of the Swedish speaking organization in the Social Democratic Youth. At the moment she is a member of the board of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Helsinki.

Heta has been active in the Nordic cooperation. The fact that she went to a Swedish speaking school has been useful in her various Nordic activities.
